Butter is used in a variety of dishes and deserts. However, this savory ingredient can cause a mess that’s difficult to clean up.
If you’re an avid baker or simply use a lot of butter in your everyday cooking, then you know that it’s bound to get stuck in certain places or utensils. It’s for this reason that you need to clean off butter stains immediately before they become difficult to deal with.
In case you are looking to give the kitchen a thorough clean, consider these handy tips that will help you get rid of messes made by butter:
Carpets
A lot of food can fall and stain the beauty of the carpeting. Butter is one of them.
Time is of the essence when butter stains your carpets. Don’t wait before it seeps into the fabric and leaves behind a noticeable stain.
If the butter is still fresh on the carpet, you’ll need to scrape as much of it off with a butter knife. Follow up by sprinkling some baking soda and let it sit for about five minutes. Next, pour some soapy water on the stain and wipe it away using a wet cloth. Finally, use a dry cloth to clean off any remaining moisture.
Clothing
Just like with your carpets, you need to get rid of butter stains on your clothing as soon as possible before they’re ruined for good.
Use a butter knife and paper towels to help scrape and blot away most of the butter on your clothing. Sprinkle some baking soda to help absorb most of the grease for five minutes before you place your clothes in the washing machine to completely remove the stain.
Upholstery
This might be the last place you would expect to drop butter on, but in the event it does happen, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for it.
Once again, use a butter knife to carefully scrape away any traces of butter on your upholstery and be sure to gently rub in some baking soda to help absorb grease. Give it about 15 minutes before you complete the job using a vacuum cleaner.
